B u t e o

Buteo came to visit
She rung the bell
Then kicked the
Fence

“Buteo! Buteo!”
Carmine called from
The dungeon
“You musn’t frolic
Near the palace!”

“Where then must
A buzzard play?!”
Buteo asked in
Dissarray

“Find the fork and
Kill the thorn, then
Slash the book, but
after the horn!”
Carmine yelled.

“You’re blushing
Carmine! I’m on
My way. Foolery
comes to steal
you away!”

“Buteo! Buteo!
Did you pray
Like me, for
Rabbits that hop
And birds that fly?”
Carmine asked

“I did! I did!
Once I even
Preyed for wombat
Fat.  Now I only
Prey for blood.
Imagine that!”
Buteo screamed
Before swooping
Down and pecking
Carmine’s eyeballs
Out

Moral
Beauty can be oh so deceptively unsound

When prayer is focused on the already found
